How We Work

What to Expect From Our Design and Build Process

Hiring someone to rebuild your yard is a big decision, and most people have never done it before. Here is exactly what happens from your first phone call to the day we hand the space back to you.

The First Visit
Your landscape design consultation happens at your home, not over email. We walk the property with you, listen to how you want to use the space, and talk honestly about budget before anyone draws anything. There is no charge and no obligation.
Site Analysis
Next we read the property itself: sun and shade through the day, grade and drainage, soil depth, and the trees worth building around. On Austin lots this step matters more than most people expect. Where the water goes in a hard rain decides where a patio can safely sit.
Your Design
We turn all of it into a plan you can actually picture, with 2D layouts and 3D renders of the finished space. You see materials, plant choices, and lighting before a shovel moves. We expect revisions at this stage, because changing a render costs nothing and changing a poured slab costs plenty.
Permits, HOA, and Utilities
Austin requires a building permit for retaining walls over four feet, and removing a protected tree of 19 inches or more in diameter needs approval from the city. Neighborhoods like Barton Creek and Rough Hollow add their own architectural review. We sort out the paperwork and call in utility locates before the build starts.
The Build
One team handles the whole job: grading, hardscape, irrigation, planting, and any custom steel work. You get a schedule up front and updates as the work moves. We clean the site at the end of each day, because you still live here while we build.
Walkthrough and Handoff
We walk the finished landscape with you, run the irrigation zone by zone, and show you how to water new plantings through their first Texas summer. You get the plant list and a simple care schedule so the space still looks right in year three.

One thing worth knowing before you hire anyone: Texas does not issue a general landscaping license, so the bar to call yourself a landscaper is low. Irrigation is different. State law requires irrigation systems to be designed and installed under a licensed irrigator. Ask every company you talk to who holds what, and ask us too.
